7 Dress-Up Themes Your Dancers Will Love

7 Dress-Up Themes Your Dancers Will Love

Whether your role in dance education takes place in a studio, classroom or on the football field. Dress-up days are an easy way to win with your dancers, build community, and add a little fun into the monotony of 5,6,7,8.

Here are 7 dress-up theme ideas to get you started.

1. Anything But Poms

True to its name, dancers bring "anything but poms" to practice that day. We're talking anything from hangers and toilet paper, to stuffed animals and cooking utensils. If you're not a program that uses poms, this could be swapped for "anything but a dance bag" instead.

2. Dynamic Duo

Dancers team up with a partner for this one, coming dressed as any dynamic-duo. Think peanut butter and jelly, Shrek and Donkey, or any iconic pair. This could also be used as a half time performance, or a studio dance duo night.

3. Dress Like Your Coach

Nothing humbles you as a coach quite like this one! Dancers, grab your jean jacket, best pair of black leggings, Starbucks drink and your coaches favorite phrase "one more time"

4. Awkward Family Photos

This is a fun one that could be adapted to dance studio or team and results in some perfectly fun photos for the end of the year slide show. Dancers find your ugliest, wildest, most cringe-worthy outfit and wear it to practice. This can be done by squads, teams, age groups, etc. Don't forget to take an awkward photo at the end of practice.

5. I Thought This Was A "Zoom Practice"

I have to say, this one might be my absolutely favorite one of all time. 2020 may have brought a lot of weird trends (toilet paper shortage...at home hair cuts anyone??) but nothing beats the trend of the zoom attire. For this dress-up day, dancers come dressed in business on top and pajamas on bottom.

6. Soccer Moms Vs BBQ Dads

Picture SUVs, Lawn Chairs, and Team snacks facing off against "Worlds Best Chef" apron, socks with sandals, and the golden spatula.

7. Dress Like Your Favorite Holiday

From spooky Halloween to cozy Christmas, dancers come dressed in their most festive and fun holiday attire.
